In February 1991, Jack Nicklaus launched a perfect ceremonial first tee shot down the center of the No. 1 fairway…and a Legend was born. The Legend is a Jack Nicklaus design that’s been described as his “masterpiece,” and it’s a favorite of the Ibis members, who enjoy playing on the same course that tested the pros as the site of The National Senior Club Professional Championship and the LPGA’s Office Depot Tournament. Golfweek Magazine has named the Legend one of the country’s “Most Distinctive Courses.” But, make no mistake – it’s a challenge that you’ll ultimately find satisfying. Just click the layout below to get an idea of how much of a “bear” this course can be. If you know Jack Nicklaus courses, you know he favors angled greens and those risk-reward hole designs that require smart golf. The greens were rebuilt in 2003 with Champion grass to give our golfers a consistent and fast-putting surface.
Yes, those bunkers are as big as they look on the graphics, but land your shot on the fairway and you will find a fair test of golf that gives you different challenges each time you play the Legend.
